- Christoph is specialised in shipping and transportation law. He represented his clients in court proceedings and maritime arbitrations and is also appointed as arbitrator. His professional activities as partner of FLEET HAMBURG were focussed on comprehensive legal advice for German and foreign companies from the shipping and trading industries. His experience includes ship financing and the development of complex logistics contracts. Land transportation, marine insurance and the law of tourism at sea are all included in his areas of expertise.
Christoph studied law at the Universities of Tuebingen, Munich and Hamburg before he completed his German legal state exams. Christoph was admitted to the Hamburg Bar in 1982 and graduated as Dr. jur. in 1985 before becoming partner of Taylor Wessing in 1986. He had previously worked as a trainee with US law firms in New York, San Francisco, New Orleans, London and Washington, D.C. In 2011 he was co-founder of the law firm FLEET HAMBURG, now being Of Counsel of this firm.
Christoph regularly wrote articles on maritime law issues and delivered papers and presentations to national and international shipping conferences. He has acted as a lecturer at the annual Summer Academy of the International Foundation for the Law of the Sea, at Bucerius Law School, at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Takoradi/Ghana, the International Center for Graduate Studies of Hamburg University, and at the University of Lüneburg. .
As a pro bono activity, Christoph is Chairman of the Board of a foundation running a retirement home and a Chairman of the Advisory Board of the German Offshore Sailing Association "Hansa" (DHH).
